Jake Paul responds to Dana White, offers to ‘retire from boxing’ if UFC raises fighter pay and provides long-term health care

Paul had challenged White to improve his fighters’ pay and conditions and in return the YouTube star will quit boxing and sign a one-fight deal with the UFC

Jake Paul had told UFC president Dana White he will retire from boxing and fight Jorge Masvidal in the cage – if White agrees to a string of demands.

Paul has enjoyed a back-and-forth feud with White in recent months and has repeatedly accused the UFC chief of underpaying his fighters.

He has also accused him of having a cocaine addiction, in response to which White said he would take a drugs test if Paul agreed to be tested for steroids.

Paul has now issued a challenge of his own, offering to swap the ring for a one-fight deal with White’s promotion.https://58cd347e5d9c27bbc0678097a6fb8ab2.safeframe.googlesyndication.com/safeframe/1-0-38/html/container.html?n=0

“Happy New Year, Dana White,” he wrote on Twitter. “Here is a real challenge for you. I will immediately retire from boxing and fight Jorge Masvidal in the UFC if you agree to:

  1. Increase min fighter pay per fight to $50K (it’s $12K now)
  2. Guarantee UFC fighters 50 per cent of UFC annual revenues ($1bn in 2021)
  3. Provide long term healthcare to all fighters (you previously said brain damage is part of the gig…imagine the NFL said that) There are many UFC alums who have publicly said they are suffering from brain damage

“You have five days to accept and to implement the above by March 31, 2022. Once implemented I will immediately retire from boxing, enter USADA and agree to a one-fight deal with UFC to fight weak chin Jorge.

“To all UFC fighters – time to take a stand and create value for yourselves and peers. You deserve higher pay, you deserve long term healthcare and above all you deserve freedom. Support each other. I am not your enemy, I am your advocate…who selfishly wants to KO a few of you to make some big bank.”

Paul recently improved his boxing record to 5-0 with a sixth-round KO of Tyron Woodley in their rematch last month.

Paul had outpointed the former UFC champion in August having also stopped another former MMA star in Ben Askren in April.

The 24-year-old has repeatedly called out under-contract UFC fighters including Masvidal, Nate Diaz, Conor McGregor and Kamaru Usman.

But White has no intention of releasing his stars to face Paul in the boxing ring.

“No (scenario I’d let Diaz or Masvidal box Paul while under UFC contract),” he said. “You notice how he wants to fight f****** everybody that’s not in his weight class, guys that are older and all this bull****.

“Go fight a boxer. Go hump somebody else’s leg, you goofball.”
