Seriously injured woman transported to Cork university hospital

Following a collision that happened in county Cork last evening, a woman has suffered significant injuries.

On Monday, March 20, at around 5:30 p.m., two vehicles collided on the R600 at Coolcarron, Belgooly in County Cork. Garda were at the scene.

A woman in her 20s who was a passenger in one of the cars was transferred to Cork University Hospital with significant wounds.

Although their injuries were not life threatening, the drivers of both vehicles were also brought to Cork University Hospital.

It is still not open to traffic on the R600 at Coolcarron, and it probably would not be open again until the morning. There are local detours in place.

Road users are urged to use detours wherever possible.

Garda are pleading with any witnesses to contact them if they saw this collision.

A spokesperson for the Gardaí said, “Any road users who may have camera footage (including dash-cam) and were travelling on the R600 at Coolcarron between 5pm and 5:40pm are asked to make this footage available to Gardaí.”
